Obituary

Wilma Jean Anderson of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, died Sunday, February 26, 2023, at the age of 90.

Born in Bruce, Florida, in the summer of 1932, she is survived by her sister, Gail Rooks, of Bruce; daughter, Karen Vaughan of Chandler, Arizona; sons Philip (Faith) and Curtis (Valerie) of Paxton, Florida; special cousin Fay Hardy of Newnan, Georgia; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by Philip, her beloved husband of 49 years.

Jean was a proud graduate of Walton High School where she was an excellent student, cheerleader, and member of several school clubs. For many years, she was an employee for Walton County and a bank teller.

Having married a college football player, Physical Education teacher and coach who led Paxton to state titles in 1955 and 1962, she thoroughly enjoyed competitive sports and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete regardless of the sport.
