Thomas Simpler, of Florala passed away Sunday July 3, 2022. He was born May 28, 1942 the son of Lassie Simpler and Lucy Marshall Simpler. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. When Tom returned home he worked as a deputy with the Walton County Sherriff Department. He had a love of life and a love for getting things done. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger known to many as the Magic Man. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hollis Simpler and Carlis Simpler, sisters, Verdell Murdock and Margaret Leddon.

He is survived by sister, Burnell Mack, son, Rodney Van Scoy, grandson, Logan Andersen-Van Scoy. He is also survived by an abundance of extended loved ones including numerous nieces and nephews. At Tom's request his wishes were for all his coffee club buddies serve as honorary pallbearers.

Funeral services for Thomas Simpler will be 11AM Monday July 11, 2022 at Evans Funeral Home with Johnny White officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Gaskin Cemetery with military honors.
