Obituary

Thomas O. Davis, age 91 of the Lockhart Community passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Florala Rehabilitation Center. He was born on October 27, 1932 in Covington County, an only son to Henry and Mattie Harrison Davis. Thomas grew up in the Caney Creek Community and attended Walton County Schools. Tom was a veteran in the U. S. Air Force and served as a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge. Thomas O. Davis and Barbara Ermaline Andrews were married on December 7, 1957, a marriage that would span some 46 years and produced a son, a daughter and 5 grandchildren. He served as a deacon of Caney Creek Baptist Church for some 50+ years. In his spare time, Thomas enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love of gardening helped to provide for his family and he shared his bounty with friends and family. Thomas loved shopping and wearing flashy clothing; the brighter the colors, the more he liked it! So much so, Tom requested to have a different sport coat for the viewing and the funeral services! His laugh was infectious, his smile would light up the room and he never met a stranger. He was an electrician by trade, as well as air conditioning and refrigeration. Throughout his life, Tom helped many people thru his trade providing free services to people (especially the elderly) as well as taking care of his church building and grounds. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother and father, first wife Erma Davis, an infant son and his sister Nan Southerland.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ina Mae Laird Wilkerson Davis. Thomas and Ina Mae would have been married 13 years (within just 5 days) on July 28, 2024. He is survived by his only son, Pete Davis (Tonya) and grandson Jeremy Davis. One daughter, Brenda Roehm (Teddy), grandsons Shawn, Shane, Shadler Roehm and one granddaughter Shelci Roehm as well as 7 great grandchildren.

Other survivors include stepdaughters, Debra Harper (Billy), Linda Snapp (Don) and Ellen Wilkerson and families. Sue Rushing, a sister, survives along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Among those asked to serve as pallbearers are Jamie Cassidy, Clinton Laird, Larry Laird, Rickey Robertson, Mike Russell and Wesley Laird.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, Alabama.
