Sybil
Pouncey
Feb 13, 1920 — Nov 7, 2019
Sybil Pouncey age 99, of Florala passed away Novermber 7, 2019. She was born February 13, 1920 to Preston and Ethel Booth. Sybil was a devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith demonstrated the epitome of a believer and servant. As a faithful and nearly life-long member of Hopewell United Methodist Church, Sybil learned to become a godly wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a true blessing to each and every person with whom she came in contact with and she touched the lives of so many. Her life was full of purpose, as she demonstrated how to walk daily through life with a gentle, kind spirit and giving heart. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Jesse Wilbur Pouncey, parents, Preston and Ethel Booth, brother, Junior Booth, sister, Doris (Booth) Walters, son-in-law, Marion Causey, and granddaughter, Alicia Causey.
Survivors include daughters, Judy (Gerald) Armstrong, Marsha (Ron) Fowler, and Barbara Causey, grandchildren, Debra and Jeff Armstrong, Ronda (Theron) Carter, Jessica (Rodney) Wyrosdick, and Jennifer (Jason) Hammac, 7 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Sybil enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She never used a harsh word toward others and always saw the positive side of life. She was a strong individual who, through her strong faith and determination, was a helpmate to her husband on their family farm. In turn, this led to the current generation of family who loved her dearly and desire to follow in her footsteps. She left a footprint in each of her family member's and friend's heart that will forever be remembered and cherished. We all rejoice that she is forever worshipping and fellowshipping with her Lord and Savior, as well as reunited with her husband and loved ones who awaited her crowning in glory.
