Sturgel J Owens, age 82 of Florala, formerly of Rutledge passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born January 27, 1943, in Crenshaw County Alabama to Otis and Olean Owens. He left an impression on everyone that knew him. On bright sunny days you would often find Sturgel setting on the front porch. If he wasn't on the porch, you would find him in front of the tv watching Soap Operas, Westerns, or WWE Wrestling. He would always listen to gospel music on Sunday morning. He always was picking or joking around with his nieces and nephews. But most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Sturgel faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he fought many health issues. He fought the good fight. He kept the faith. He finished the race.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Olean Waton Owens and Otis Owens; brother, Gerald Owens; sister, Alice Mae Owens Gregory.

Sturgel is survived by his s isters, Gail Powell, Maryann Owens and Betty Owens; and brother, Jerry Owens.  He is also survived by an abundance of extended loved ones including numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Sturgel J Owens will be 12PM Sunday February 9, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home with Cheryl Janney officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Honoraville, Alabama.
