Obituary

Ronald C. “Ronnie” Kilpatrick, age 74, of Florala, Alabama, passed away on September 18, 2026.

Ronnie was born on February 2, 1952, the son of W. A. Kilpatrick and Mabel Paul Kilpatrick. He was raised alongside his three brothers on the Kilpatrick family farm in Florala—a place that remained home to him throughout his life. Ronnie graduated from Florala High School in 1970.

Following high school, Ronnie began working as a welder in the construction industry. While working a shutdown job in Southport, North Carolina, he was drafted into the United States Army. Ronnie proudly answered the call and honorably served his country for two years. After completing his military service, he returned to welding and traveled throughout the southeastern United States, lending his skill and strong work ethic to shutdown projects at numerous industrial plants. No matter how far his work carried him, his heart and home remained at the Kilpatrick farm.

When Ronnie was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was especially gifted in working with bird dogs. Ronnie owned and trained as many as 12 dogs, developing them into exceptional hunting and competition-quality dogs. He possessed a rare ability to understand and communicate with them—earning him the affectionate description of a true “dog whisperer.” With patience, consistency, and a gentle hand, Ronnie could teach a dog to point, retrieve, and perform with remarkable discipline. His dogs were more than hunting companions; they were a source of great pride and joy, and the bond he shared with them reflected his patient and caring nature.

Ronnie’s faith in Jesus Christ sustained him as he bravely faced many health challenges. Through every hardship, he remained courageous and steadfast. In the words of Scripture, he fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, W. A. Kilpatrick and Mabel Paul Kilpatrick.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debi Kilpatrick; his brothers, Donnie Kilpatrick (Beverly), Dean Kilpatrick, and Dale Kilpatrick; Steve Lassiter (Lisa); and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life service for Ronald C. “Ronnie” Kilpatrick will be announced at a later date by Evans Funeral Home.
