Peggy
Woodham
Dec 5, 1926 — Mar 27, 2020
Peggy Martin Woodham, age 93, of Florala passed away peacefully at Mizell Memorial Hospital on Friday, March 27, 2020. She was the daughter of the late H.O. Martin, Sr. and Mattie Walker Martin and was born on December 5, 1926 in Florala, Al. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Florala and retired from the Florala City School System. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church since 1935 and for many years she served in the nursery where she fed the small children not just snacks, but stories from the Bible. She served as President of the United Methodist Women where she was a member for over 50 years. A special enjoyment for Peggy was hosting the annual UMW Christmas party at her home. Even her declining health did not keep Peggy from faithfully worshipping at her church. She enjoyed meeting people and always took time to visit. She was an active member of the Florala History Club until her health kept her homebound. Even then club members continued to keep her involved as much as possible and would often come to her home for meetings. After becoming homebound, Peggy enjoyed watching from her front door as friends and neighbors passed by. She was never one to complain about her health and always had a smile or word of encouragement to others. Her faith carried her through her life with grace and goodness. A special thank you to Mizell Memorial Hospital, Florala Health & Rehab, Florala Senior Citizens Center, and special friend, Mary Diggs.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Melinda Woodham; her son, Robert Woodham; and her granddaughter, Shay Woodham all of Florala; niece, Joyce Higgs of Pensacola; nephews, Bob Martin & Bill Martin both of Colorado City, Tx; niece, Sheila Anderson of Florala; nephew, Jim Hughes of Dade City, Al; and nephew-in-law, Thomas Harrison of Dothan, Al.
