Pearl Gallis
Worley
Jul 14, 1921 — Jan 6, 2026
Pearl Gallis Worley is the daughter of the late Michael Apostolon Cheokas and Lemonia Benetos Cheokas and the sister of the late Arthur A. Cheokas (Anna M. Cheokas).
Pearl, born July 14,1921 departed peacefully to Heaven on January 6, 2026. Pearl lived a life evident by perseverance, hard work, and unwavering character. The time in which she grew up produced challenges, yet she met each one with quiet strength and determination.
After completing Covington County High School Pearl worked for many years as a trimmer and inspector for Franklin Ferguson Shirt Factory. She worked, also as a clerk in a local grocery in her youth, while caring for her aging grandparents. Following retirement, Pearl continued her lifelong ministry of caring for others by opening her home to children in the community. She did not have a formal day care; however, her family den became a place of safety, love, and guidance. In her home, children learned respect, discipline, kindness, and the importance of good character- the same values Pearl lived by and passed down to her own family.
A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pearl's faith was not only something she professed, but a way of life, which she lived daily. After working long hours, she often spent evenings serving her church by cleaning and caring for the church - never seeking recognition, only desiring to serve. Her devotion to her church family was loyal and sincere, reflecting her deep commitment to God and community.
Pearl, dedicated her mornings to the Super Gym for more than twenty years, exercising with many dear friends several times per week. She enjoyed traveling with the Baptist Travel Group to many destinations, she belonged to the Lockhart-Florala Garden Club and the Homemakers Group. Pearl was also devoted to the First Presbyterian Ladies Circle and hosted many meetings in her home.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, James Titus Worley; grandparents, Tom and Susan Hall; grand uncle, Costas Galiatsos and aunt, Angie Hall. Pearl is survived by daughters, Mildred Jeri Blankenbeck of Pensacola, FL, Amelia McMahon of Florala, and Tracie Stitt of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Stacy (Carter) Brown of Pensacola, FL, Abigail Gallis Stitt (Scout Buffy) of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren, Arthur Agustus Brown, Edith Grace Brown of Pensacola; nephew, Mike Cheokas (Gaynor) of Americus, GA; sister-in-law, Ruth Worley of Luverne, AL; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pearl was a lady of remarkable strength, gentle wisdom, and deep compassion. She was dearly loved by her community and her church, her influence reached far beyond her own family. The legacy she leaves behind is one of service, faithfulness, and lives quietly shaped for the better. She instilled these qualities of integrity, responsibility and faith that guide her family throughout their lives.
Her life stands as a testimony that character, faith, and love - lived out day by day - leave an enduring mark on generations.
