Paul Cook
Sr
Apr 10, 1941 — Jan 24, 2026
Paul Cook Sr., age 84, of Florala, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026. He was born April 10, 1941, the son of Woodrow Cook and Nancy Morie Cook.
Paul spent his life working in the logging industry during a time when logging was truly hard, demanding labor. In those early days, equipment was limited, and most of the work was done by hand. Paul understood the value of a hard day's work and lived it out daily. He put in sweat equity every day to provide for his family, working in the woods for many years until the physical demands of the job eventually required him to retire. His work ethic was strong, honest, and respected by those who knew him.
Outside of work, Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting, but one of his greatest passions was raising game chickens. He took great pride in them—how they were raised, trained, and cared for. His chickens were something special to him, and he was well known and respected for the knowledge, discipline, and care he put into them. It was a craft he took seriously and one he was proud to be known for.
Paul's faith in Jesus Christ sustained him throughout his life, especially as he bravely faced many health challenges. He fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished the race.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Paul Cook Jr.; his sister, Kathy Stokes; and his brothers, Tony Cook and Billy Cook.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bobby Jean Cook of Florala; his son, Jackie Cook and wife Sherry; and his daughter, Jean Cook. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Jackie Jr., Frank, and Amy. Paul cherished being "Pawpaw," a name he carried with pride and joy. He is further survived by six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Paul Cook Sr. will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home with Brother James Pickren officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
