Patricia Strickland, beloved teacher, community leader, and friend, passed away on August 19, 2025. She devoted her life to education, service, and her hometown Florala, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and dedication.

For over 30 years, Pat taught elementary school and high school in Florala, where she was loved by her students and respected by her colleagues. With her passion for learning, she shaped countless lives, instilling not only knowledge but also confidence, compassion, and curiosity in those she taught. Many of her former students remember her as a teacher that made learning fun.

After retiring from the classroom, Pat continued to give of herself in new ways. She worked with the Florala Chamber of Commerce, where she was instrumental in helping guide our city's growth and progress. Pat left a lasting impact on our community.

Beyond her work with the Chamber, Pat gave generously of her time to numerous boards and civic organizations. She served faithfully as a member of the Florala Cemetery Board, the History Club, the Study Club and the Civic Club, where she was always a steady and trusted presence.

A woman of selfless service, Pat will be remembered as a dedicated teacher, a community servant, and a friend. She leaves behind friends and generations of students who carry forward the lessons of her life. She was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Strickland; father, Horace Kelley; mother, Bonnie Kelley.

Funeral services for Patricia Strickland will be 3PM Friday August 22, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florala Cemetery Board, P. O. Box 183, Florala, AL 36442.
