Park Earl
Johnson Ii
Dec 3, 1943 — Nov 16, 2023
Park Earl Johnson II, affectionately known as Johnny by his family and close acquaintances, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on December 3, 1943, to Park Earl Johnson and Louise Miller Johnson. His upbringing spanned the globe, from Alabama and Florida to England, Germany, and French Morocco Africa. He went to Choctawhatchee High School and, immediately out of high school, joined the United States Air Force.
In 1966, he wed Darlene Brown in Abilene, Texas, the location of the births of his son Park Earl Johnson III on December 3, 1966, and his daughter Michelle Elaine Johnson on May 25, 1971.
During his time in Thailand during the Vietnam War, he oversaw the construction of numerous types of large ordinances, including laser-guided bombs, and worked as a rocket/flare/bomb constructor at the bomb dump. Subsequently, he transitioned to the loadmaster position for the C130 and C141 aircraft.
Following his retirement from the military in 1987, he established The Energy Doctor, a company specializing in the energy-efficient renovation of residential properties. Furthermore, he spent a year instructing Junior ROTC in Muskogee, Oklahoma, prior to being recruited as a loadmaster instructor for the C141 aircraft by Hughes Aircraft. Over time, the C141 was superseded by the C17, and Johnny was cross-trained by McDonnell Douglas/Boeing in C17 loadmaster operations, which situated him for the position of lead loadmaster trainer. 2002 saw his relocation to Jackson, Mississippi, and a few years later his retirement from Boeing. After relocating to Okaloosa County, Florida, he purchased a residence and land.
From a young age, he enjoyed spending time in nature and the great outdoors. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, including camping, canoeing, water skiing, fishing, swimming, scuba diving, trekking, and hunting. Similar to his father, he was an accomplished marksman who was NRA-trained in handgun and rifle repair and reloaded his own ammunition. He also excelled as an archer and fletched his own shafts. Johnny was an expert user of any type of projectile, including spears, slingshots, and everything in between.
His mother, Clarence Louise Miller; father, Park Earl Johnson; nephew Daniel Marion Nance; brother-in-law Cecil Darwin Brown; father-in-law Joseph Burgess Brown; mother-in-law Margueritte Ruby Brown, and brother-in-law Marcus Dean Brown all predeceased him.
He is survived by the mother of his children Patricia Darlene Johnson of Altus, Oklahoma, his son Park Earl Johnson III and wife Claudia Carrada-Johnson of Altus, Oklahoma, his daughter Michelle Elaine Basaldua and husband Jessie Basaldua of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, his granddaughter Autumn Jamae Johnson of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, Sarina Baden of Dibble, Oklahoma, Sabastian Basaldua of Altus, Oklahoma, Shyanne Basaldua of Altus, Oklahoma and Zoe Love Basaldua of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, great-grandchildren Rhea Grace Johnson, Lincoln Riley Moates, and Olivia Rose Moates.
