Michael "Ghost"
Johnson
Feb 15, 1965 — Mar 29, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mike "Ghost" Johnson, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on March 29th, 2025, at the age of 60. Mike, known to many as "Ghost" after his years of service in the Navy and his time behind the wheel of a truck, made an unforgettable impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike was a proud Navy veteran, where he served as a Corpsman for 3.5-4 years and earned the nickname "Doc" from his shipmates. His time in the military was just the beginning of a life that was full of laughter, service, and dedication. After being medically discharged from the Navy, Mike found a deep love for driving trucks, following in the footsteps of his father and brothers. His CB handle, "Ghost," became a symbol of his larger-than-life personality and the many stories he shared along the road.
Mike's family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his daughter, Candice (Allen), and his cherished grandchildren: Allen Jr., Kayli, Jordyn, Cameron Cordell of Skipperville, Alabama; Georgia Scofield of New Harmony. His love for his family was boundless, and he was a constant source of pride and encouragement. Mike was a devoted family historian, always ready with a story about their roots, making sure the memories lived on for future generations.
He also leaves behind his sisters, Pamela Harrison of Harrison Curve, Patricia Johnson of Harrison Curve, Allison White Daniels of Ponce de Leon, Brothers: Keith Smith(Irene) of Panama City, Danny Johnson of Harrison Curve, and Cliff Johnson of Lakewood. Friends: Kathy Johnson, Larry Pearce, Chris Odom, Tim Corbin, David Norris, Adam Stubbs and numerous of other close friends. His nieces—Chelsie Harrison-Moore(Dom), Maddie White, Autumn and Kendra White, Nikki Frank(Brian), Rachel Smith, Vicki Harrison(Shay)—and nephews—Randy Harrison, Steven Johnson, Evan Johnson, Raymond and Clifton Johnson, John Harrison—were also dearly loved. His great nieces and nephews—Brantley Rogers, Weston White, Emmy Harrison, Charlotte White, and Sawyer White, Stevie Frank—held a special place in his heart. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous of great nieces and nephews among other family members and shipmates that were fortunate to know him.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ra Johnson, his mother, Mary Anne Johnson, his brothers, Randy Johnson, Craig Thomas, and Keith Thomas, as well as his nephew Luke Rogers, granddaughter Abigail Cordell, niece Kim Harrison, brother-in-law Randall Harrison, and nephew Bobby Harrison Jr.
One of Mike's defining qualities was his ability to make everyone smile, laugh, and feel welcome. He was a true social butterfly, always cracking jokes, sharing stories, and making sure everyone knew just how proud he was of his daughter, his grandkids, his nieces and nephews, and his entire family. Mike's bond with his aunt Jean was one-of-a-kind, and together they shared an unspoken connection that was deeply meaningful.
Taken from us far too soon, Mike has left a void that can never be filled. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that he has been healed, embraced by the golden gates of heaven, where he will continue to shine. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will never be forgotten.
May you rest in peace, Mike "Ghost" Johnson. You were truly one of a kind, and you will be missed more than words can say.
Funeral services for Mike "Ghost" Johnson will be 2PM Friday April 4, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home with Wendel Ard officiating. Interment will be in Paxton Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM.
