Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Michael Blake Dean, Sr. announce his untimely passing on Thursday May 14, 2020 at the age 56.

Mike was born at Howard AFB-Panama Canal Zone in 1964 to parents Gerald "Jerry" and Mable Motley Dean. He had one sister, Denise Dean Neville. He grew up in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and was a 1982 graduate of Ft. Walton Beach High School. In 1979 while working at Western Steer he met and later married his wife of 33 years, Georgina Hollinghead Dean. After a sixteen year career with Gulf Power, Mike acquired his General Contractor license in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Along with his son-in-law, Mike created a successful family-owned business in the roofing, siding and construction industries.

Georgina and Mike have three wonderful children: Michael Blake Dean, Jr., Tanner Brooke Dean - Healy, and Dakota Bryce Dean. He has a third son, Ben Healy - (married to Tanner), that he considered a true son rather than a son-in-law. He loved all of them more than life itself.

In 2014, Mike experienced a new kind of love when Tanner gave birth to his first grandson, Asher Justice, followed the next year by his second grandson, Gad Israel and finally his "princess," Timber Grace. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and it was apparent when you would hear him talk to them and see their interaction. His kind spirit and gentle soul were the epitome of what "Paw Paw" and Father should be and he represented that honor so well.

For those of you who knew Mike you know he rarely met a stranger and would do anything to help a family or friend in need...that was just his nature. He taught his kids to fish and hunt, to play golf, he painted his girl's toes, took pictures at pageants, and was truly a master at the grill. He was an avid Crestview Bulldog Fan, an LSU Tiger Fan, and a UNO Privateer Fan! Anywhere his sons hung their baseball hats is where you would find him most weekends. He'd jump in his old red truck and take off for Louisiana nearly every weekend the entire time Blake or Dakota played baseball there. He loved the camaraderie of the team, he loved the thrill of the game, but mostly he loved watching the men they had become while experiencing first hand the fruit of their labor. Proudly supporting them... He loved his boys and baseball.

Mike's network of family is so deeply rooted it would be impossible to list everyone for whom shared love and adoration for this man and him for  them. I think it is important to say that his name and reputation will forevermore speak for itself. He will always be remembered as a Provider, a Protector, and a Patriarch of this family. He was one in a million...
