Mary Simmons age 90, passed away Friday August 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 22, 1932 in Liberty, Florida the daughter of James William Yaun and Tensey Jackson Yaun. Mary was a member of Gaskin Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, WWE wrestling and Florida State Football. Her biggest legacy, however, was the love she had for her family especially her grandchildren. She relished being their Big Momma. Mary's faith in Jesus Christ sustained her as she fought many health issues, She fought the good fight. She kept the faith. She finished the race. Mary was preceded in death by husband, Elzie Simmons; daughter, Olean Wilson; son, Patrick Simmons; father, James William Yaun; mother, Tensey Jackson Yaun; grandson, James Edward Thompson; son-in-law, Gary Henderson.

She is survived by daughters, Joyce Fannin, Dennie Curry and husband Michael, Ann Henderson, Carolyn Henderson and husband Steve, Glenda Autery, Diane Simmons and Cindy Brott and husband Jim, son, James Bobby Simmons. She is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous grand, great and great great  grandchildren..

Funeral services for Mary Simmons will be 11AM Monday August 14, 2023 at Evans Funeral Home with Dan Hersey officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4PM Sunday August 13, 2023. Interment will be in Gaskin Cemetery.
