Janice McNeill, age 83, of Shalimar, Florida, passed away on July 22, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born the daughter of Lucile and Herbert Jones in Red Level, Alabama, and following high school, continued her education in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon completion, she became a bookkeeper for the Alabama Gas Company there.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She met her beloved husband, Thomas (Tom) McNeill while she was vacationing in Fort Walton Beach with her girlfriend Betty. Tom and his Auburn University friend Gene were smitten by the two girls. Eventually the two roommates happily "married two roommates". Tom and Janice recently celebrated the 59th wedding anniversary, still very much in love.

Janice and Tom lived first in Huntsville, Alabama and later Cape Canaveral, FL, where Tom stayed busy working on the NASA Saturn/Apollo space program, while Janice was busy with their first baby girl, Lyn. Eventually they moved back "home" to Shalimar where Tom continued his Civil Service career at Eglin Air Force Base and the family grew with the births of Nancy and Ashley.

She rose at 4 AM every day to be sure that her home was in order and the girls were well dressed and prepared for school. Janice was a master homemaker, keeping the house running smoothly, managing the paperwork, with a focus on raising and loving her three girls. She was a prefect hostess, decorating for every holiday and Inviting friends and family to share the joy, especially on Christmas Eve. Janice was a keen bridge player and enjoyed games and laughter with friends. Her friends called her "The Sunshine Lady." Janice believed in celebrating every accomplishment and looking for the best in life...especially when the three grandsons come along!

Janice is predeceased by her parents, Lucile and Herbert Jones and siblings Sam (Edna) Jones, Herbert Jr (Ann), and Joe (Bonnie) Jones; brother-in-law, Donald McNeill and dear friends, Gene and Betty Hughes.

She is survived by husband, Thomas (Tom) McNeill; children, Lyn Hilary (Ronnie) Rogers, Nancy McNeill (Kevin) Fall, and Ashley Anne (David) Johnson; grandsons, Kyle McNeill Land, Dillon Thomas Johnson, and Luke Brooks Johnson. Survivors also include sisters, Carol (Walter) Perkowski and Charlotte (Jerry) Livings, brother, Ronnie Jones, sister-in-law, Martha (Ron) Bradford and numerous nephews and nieces and grand-dogs.

A memorial service for Janice McNeill will be 2PM Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, FL. with visitation starting at 1PM. Interment will follow at the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery in Florala, Alabama at 5PM.
