Macy Harper
Hardzog
Nov 28, 1941 — Jan 14, 2026
Macy Harper Hardzog, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026. She was born November 28, 1941, to Sam Harper and Elizabeth Harper.
Macy was a woman of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and tireless devotion to her family. She grew up in a simpler time, when yards were dirt instead of grass, and she raked hers relentlessly—just as she cared for every part of her life, her home, and the people she loved. Her house was always kept with care and pride, a reflection of the disciplined, hardworking spirit that defined her.
She was known as an excellent cook and a woman who rose early and rested late, never idle when there was work to be done or someone in need. Macy raised four daughters who grew into strong, capable women, each carrying the work ethic and character she so faithfully instilled in them.
Her greatest anchor was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Macy did not simply read Scripture—she lived it. Her faith guided every part of her life and shaped the way she loved, served, and endured.
Macy was gentle, humble, and deeply caring. She was a caregiver to many in her family, always willing to step in and help the sick, the weary, and the hurting. She never sought recognition—only the opportunity to serve.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Elizabeth Harper; her daughter, Cora McIntosh; her sister, Mavis Davis; and her brothers, Wendell Harper and Bill Harper.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Cindy Bowers (Carlos), Carolyn Clary, and Joyce Mathern (Randall); her brothers: Horace Harper and wife Irene, Foy Harper, and Royce Harper and wife Dana; her grandchildren: Brian Bailey, Shauna, Hurbert, and Justin Spears; her devoted companion and dear friend, John Cartledge, who shared her later years and cared for her with kindness and faithfulness; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Macy treasured her family deeply and especially loved being called "Granny."
