Louise
Mclaney
Jul 8, 1932 — Jul 14, 2026
Louise McLaney, a lifelong resident of Florala, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on July 8, 1932, in Florala, the daughter of Aubie McLaney and Annie Anderson McLaney.
Louise devoted more than 42 years of her life to the textile industry in Florala, where she became known for her unwavering work ethic, dependability, and quiet determination. She was part of a generation that understood the value of honest, hard work, and the textile mills were not only a place of employment but an important part of the community's history. Through long days and demanding work, Louise built lasting friendships with her coworkers and earned the admiration and respect of those who worked alongside her. She took great pride in doing every task to the very best of her ability, leaving behind an example of dedication that will long be remembered.
Outside of work, Louise found joy in the simple blessings of life. She had a special love for her cats and lovingly cared for them throughout the years. She delighted in planting and tending flowers around her home, creating beauty wherever she lived, and she could often be found watching the birds gather around her feeders.
Although Louise was never married, she was richly blessed with a family of the heart. She had several special women whom she lovingly referred to as her "adopted children," and they loved her in return as though she were their own family. She treasured those relationships, along with the love of her many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and dear friends who became an important part of her life. Louise had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved.
A faithful member of Westside Baptist Church, Louise's Christian faith was a steady foundation throughout her life. She enjoyed worshiping with her church family and cherished the fellowship she shared with others. One of her favorite traditions was meeting her dear friend, Louise Burleson, at the Huddle House, where they spent many happy hours enjoying good food, warm conversation, and treasured friendship. After Louise Burleson's passing, those visits became one of the memories she held especially close to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubie McLaney and Cyled Anderson McLaney.
She leaves behind her loving adopted daughter, Becky Faulk (Tyler); her special cousin, Pat Lawrence; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends who were blessed to know and love her. Though they were not all related by blood, they were family in every way that mattered, and Louise loved each of them dearly.
Funeral services for Louise McLaney will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from Evans Funeral Home with Paul Adams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Louise's life was a beautiful reminder that faithfulness is often found in the quiet moments, through honest work, loyal friendships, kindness to others, and a heart that always had room for one more person to love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
