Obituary

On January 20, 2024, Loretta Harrison, precious mother, NaNa, sister and wife went to be with our Heavenly Father. Mrs. Loretta passed away at her home at the age of 72. She was born June 7, 1951, in Andalusia, AL.

Loretta grew up in the Carolina Community but lived in Florala for nearly 50 years with her husband Dennis, who passed away on January 15, 2019. They have one daughter and son-in- law, Joyce and Michael Mitchell, and two grandchildren, Kayla (Mitchell) and Jai Rojas of Tuscon, AZ and Ryan and Kaitlyn (Sampson) Mitchell of Mobile, AL. One very special niece and her spouse, Sondra and Art Frizzell were especially close to Loretta along with their son, Mason.

She attended Pleasant Home School and later worked in the Textile industry. Before retiring Loretta spent many years as a Nurse's Aide where she enjoyed taking care of the elderly and getting to know their families. There were not many times she entered a store around town that someone was not thanking her for all she did for their loved one. Truly, she took the greatest pride in her work. She had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest, most caring persons you would ever meet.

Ms. Loretta's grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan Mitchell along with her nephew, Mason were simply her greatest joy in life. She was always delighted to see and spend time with them. No doubt, they will always remember their days playing and building blocks with her in the floor and taking trips to Lake Jackson to see the airplanes and feed the ducks. As long as it was not raining a trip to the lake was always a must and it made the best memories for them. They will probably also remember her love of NASCAR and SEC football. However, their fondest memory will probably be how much she laughed at nearly everything they did or said. They were truly entertainment for their Nana. Most of the time she laughed so hard everyone was in tears laughing at her. There was no greater joy in her life, and it was obvious if you have had a conversation with her about them. She truly loved her grands.

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents Carmen Marshall and Ruth (Graham) Garvin and one brother, Pete Garvin of Carolina Community. She is survived by 3 sisters who reside in Covington County, Marie Harris, Marilyn Grimes, Carolyn Adkinson, 2 sisters and brothers-in-laws, Karen and Brett Bozeman from Andalusia, and Beverly and Tony Stubbs, who reside in Ocala, Florida. She also have several Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Loretta Harrison will be 11AM Friday January 26, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home with Dewayne Geohagan and Phil McMillan officiating. Visitation will be Thursday night 5-7 PM at Evans Funeral Home. Interment will be in Paxton Cemetery.
