Lois Hughes
Hernandez
Jan 22, 1935 — Oct 24, 2024
Sister Lois Lorraine Hernandez was called to heaven on October 24, 2024. She was born January 22, 1935, in Geneva County, Alabama, to Tobe Hughes and Callie Jackson Hughes. She married J.B. Kyser in 1951, and together they had 5 children: David, William, Rollen, Paul, and Paula. Lois and J.B. Kyser were together for 25 years until September 18, 1976, when J.B. passed away. After the passing of her late husband J.B., she then married Joe Hernandez Sr. and adopted son Joe Hernandez Jr. and daughters Brenda Hernandez and Margaret Almendarez. Lois and Joe were married 35 years until his passing on September 12, 2011.
Sister Lois was a faithful servant for our lord! She was baptized in Jesus' name on August 22, 1967, and continued to serve the Lord from that day forward! Joe and Lois ran a bus ministry all over Houston, TX., for well over 12 years. When they moved back to Lockhart, AL., they continued their outreach ministry, "Truth Apostolic," from their own home. As a past-time hobby, she would sell homemade brittle at the pig a wiggly in Florala, AL., and would plant gardens in her backyard with many peppers and peas. She enjoyed meeting people and enjoyed talking to everyone about the Lord. She was always inviting everyone she met to church and wanted everyone to know who the Lord was. Shortly after the passing of her husband, Joe Hernandez Sr., she went on to become an associate pastor at Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Florala, AL.
She is survived by her sons, Rollen Kyser, Paul Kyser, and wife, Karen Kyser; stepson, Joe Hernandez Jr., and wife, Diane Hernandez; daughters, Paula Cude and son, Jonathan Kyser; stepdaughter, Brenda Hernandez; and sister, Joyce Jackson, including all of her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, J.B. Kyser and Joe Hernandez Sr.; father, Tobe Hughes; mother, Callie Jackson Hughes; sons, William Kyser; David Kyser and wife, Roberta Kyser; stepdaughter, Margaret Almendarez; grandson, Michael Kyser; great-grandson, Joshua Bryant; sisters, Edna and husband, Rube Fleming; Clovis Nell "Babe" Coone; brothers, Harold "Bud" Hughes and wife, Willie Mae Hughes; Howard Hughes and wife, Lucile Hughes; Holland "Pete" Hughes and wife, Annie Hughes; Brother in Law, Floyd Jackson.
Services for Lois Hernandez will be held 11AM Saturday November 2, 2024, at Evans-Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Sue Kendrick officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held 1 hour before services.
