Obituary

Lila Manning, age 86, of Florala, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. She was born on September 9, 1939, in Florala, Alabama, to the late Sam Long and Annie Jane Long.

Lila was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Manning; her son, Larry Manning; her parents; and her siblings, L.C. Long, Wilmer Long, Tom Long, and Rita Sweat.

She is survived by her devoted son, Ricky Manning and his wife, Diana; and her cherished grandchildren, Letrica Petrey, Michael Manning, Deanna Sirceo, and Derrick Cain.

For over 30 years, Lila worked in the textile industry in Florala. Her work was not easy; it required strength, endurance, and dedication, but she carried it with quiet dignity and pride. Through those years, she not only helped provide for her family but also formed lasting friendships with her coworkers. She was respected for her strong work ethic and the steady, dependable way she lived her life.

Lila was a gifted cook, known especially for her chicken and dumplings and her pot roast; meals that brought her family together time and time again. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, love, and comfort, and her family will always treasure those memories.

Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. They lovingly called her "Maw Maw," a name she cherished deeply. She poured her heart into them, spoiling them with love and creating bonds that will endure for generations.

Above all, Lila's life was anchored in her faith in Jesus Christ. Through many health challenges, she remained steadfast and courageous. As Scripture reminds us, she fought the good fight, she kept the faith, and she finished the race.

Funeral services for Lila Manning will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home, with James Pickron officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Lila's legacy of faith, hard work, love for her family, and quiet strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
