Obituary

Leroy Jordan, 67 years old, of Paxton, Florida, passed away on January 7, 2023.

Leroy was born in Paxton on November 21, 1955, to James T. Jordan and Bernice McCall Jordan. Leroy had a love of farming from a young age and spent his life as a hardworking farmer. He spent much of his time hunting and fishing throughout the Paxton area and working with animals and livestock on his farm. Leroy, also lovingly known as "Bones", "Daddy", and "Poppa", adored his family and loved to spend time with them; each family member knew they could call him any time of the day or night, for any reason, and he would come running. He loved attending his family's traditional Sunday dinners and crawfish boils, but always had to hurry home in time to give his puppy, Little Bit, her daily Little Debbie cake (or else, he said, she was likely to pee in one of his shoes). All who knew him would agree that he was a graduate of the School of Common Sense, knew all the answers to life's most important questions, and always gave the best advice – often without saying a word. He kept and showed his sense of humor always; when asking him how he was doing, he usually answered that he was "fine as frogs' hair split four ways" or "hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit". Leroy loved the Lord and told his family that he was looking forward to going to Heaven so he would be able to wash Jesus's feet.

He was predeceased by his wife, Clara L. Jordan; his partner, Sandy Grier; and three siblings: Ethel Creech, Jewel Hobbs, and Edith Jordan.

Leroy is survived by six siblings: Betty Reeves, Jammie Jordan, Ellis Jordan (wife Jackie), Earnest Jordan (wife Bonita), Jessie Jordan (wife Lois), and Janet Rogers (husband Terry). He is also survived by four children: Russell Jordan (wife Roberta), Jerry Thompson, Vance Thompson, and Tiffany McClelland (husband Bryan), along with 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews.

Leroy's memorial service will be held at Evans Funeral Home on January 21, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cancer Freeze P.O. Box 92 Florala, Alabama 36442.
