Kenneth Wayne
Mcclellan
Nov 5, 1946 — Feb 15, 2025
Kenneth Wayne McClellan, 78, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Fleming Island, Florida surrounded by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Wayne found peace while his family and his Silver Treasure friends/caregivers watched and prayed over him.
Wayne was born on November 5, 1946, in Paxton, Florida. A man of many talents and passions, he dedicated his life to both education and horticulture. Wayne graduated from Southern Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in industrial arts. For 35 years, he worked for the Okaloosa School District as an educator, shaping the lives of countless students. Additionally, his love for gardening led him to become a Master Tree Farmer and co-owner of Panhandle Pampas Nursery alongside his wife, Jo Ann. Together, they nurtured their business for over two decades, cultivating not only plants but also a shared passion for nature's beauty.
Wayne was a quiet man with a quick sense of humor and a penchant for practical jokes. He found great joy in the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved sharing these pastimes with his daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. His enthusiasm for nature extended beyond hunting and fishing—he also had a deep appreciation for woodworking. Many of his handcrafted pieces remain cherished by his family today.
Above all else, Wayne was a devoted husband to Jo Ann and a loving father to Hollea Ann McClellan Ryan and Heather McClellan. Wayne and Jo Ann were married for 58 years, sharing decades of love and memories. Wayne's family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in being a grandfather to Evan Ryan, Charlotte Ryan, and Josephine Ryan. He is also survived by his son-in-law Kevin Ryan; sisters Virgina Rummel (Mark) and Sally Young (Bryan); brother Ernie McClellan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pence and Norine McClellan.
A funeral service for Kenneth Wayne McClellan will be held 11:00 AM Saturday February 22, 2025, at Evans-Brown Funeral Home in Florala, Alabama, with visitation starting at 10 AM. Following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest at Eight Mile Cemetery in Walton County, Florida.
Wayne's legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and friends and the many lives he touched throughout his career and passions. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
