Obituary

Kanin Douglas, of Opp, Alabama, passed away on May 23, 2026, at the age of 19. He was born on February 19, 2007, to Dennis Douglas and Tiffany Jay.

Kanin was a young man who embraced life with enthusiasm, energy, and a spirit all his own. He found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful, whether casting a fishing line into the water, spending time outdoors, or climbing behind the wheel of his beloved 1994 Ford F-150 four-wheel drive. He especially enjoyed taking it through mud holes and back roads, an adventure he proudly referred to as "hitting digs." Those moments reflected his love for freedom, fun, and living life to the fullest.

He also shared a special bond with his stepfather through their mutual love of music, often spending hours talking about subwoofers, speakers, sound systems, and all the details that made music come alive. Kanin appreciated good music played loud and enjoyed the friendships and memories that came with it.

Above all, Kanin loved his family. He was never ashamed to tell anyone that he was a "mama's boy," wearing that title with pride. His affection for his mother was evident to everyone who knew him, and his devotion to his family remained one of the defining qualities of his life. Though his time here was far too short, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his father, Dennis Douglas; his mother, Tiffany McCulligh and husband Patrick McCulligh; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Jay; his uncle, Troy Jay; and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory for years to come.

Funeral services for Kanin Douglas will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. from Evans Funeral Home with Kelly Batson officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Opp, Alabama.

Though his journey on earth ended far too soon, Kanin's adventurous spirit, loyal heart, and deep love for family will never be forgotten.
