Johnny (Bud) Charles Roberts, 80, of Florala, Alabama, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family on April 12, 2021. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Johnny came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Johnny was born March 30, 1941 in Covington County Alabama to Albert and Effie (Williams) Roberts. He served his country in the United States Army from 1964-1969 where he received a citation as a M-14 Sharpshooter. During his time in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Hamilton, New York, Fort Dix, New Jersey and overseas in Germany. He later worked with the Okaloosa Gas District until he retired in 1994.Loved ones that cleared the path for Johnny are his parents, Albert and Effie and his brother Roy Lee. He also lost the two loves of his life to cancer, Gail in March of 1989, and Barbara in October of 2020.

Loved ones that will miss Johnny until they meet again are daughter Nerissa (Donnie) Castleberry, stepson Ashley (Cindy) Roberts, stepson Dale Roberts, brother Ray (Delores) Roberts, sister Hazel Messer, grandchildren Ashley, Joshua, Alexandra, Jared, Chris and Zach, greatgrandchildren, Leilani, Taylor, Timothy, Wyatt and Kennedy and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Johnny was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

Johnny loved sports, especially college football, where his favorite team was the Alabama Crimson Tide. When he was not watching the Crimson Tide play, he spent his free time hunting and fishing and working in his garden. Johnny was always there to help relatives and friends with household projects, give them fresh vegetables from his garden or whatever else people needed him for.

Visitation will be Wednesday April 14, 2021 from 5:00PM - 7:00 PM at Evans Funeral Home. Funeral services for Johnny will be 2:00PM Thursday April 15, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home. Johnny will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Florala, Alabama following services.
