On Saturday, September 14, 2024, James Alton Whittle passed away at Flowers hospital in Dothan Alabama after an extended stay. He had his 79th birthday on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 while in the hospital. James was born September 11, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama to Jessie, Eugene and Vassie Mae Whittle. He is preceded in death by his father, Jessie and Mother, Vassie Mae; two brothers, John Walter Whittle and Henry Eugene Whittle; two sisters, Bobelle Whittle and Lucy Rebecca Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha Francis Whittle; One son, Terry Meade; Grandson, Stephen Tyler Gallion; Granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Gainey; and four great grandchildren. One Sister, Katricia Ann McCullers (Carol);  Nephew, Jimmy McCullers (Sandy);  Neices, Theresa Carroll (David), Donna Arnold (Zack), and Melonie Price. Numerous great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
Services will be:

Funeral services will be 2PM Wednesday September 18, 2024 at Evans Funeral Home with Margie Sexton officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
