James Alexander Pound, age 37, known as Jamie to friends and family, passed away on September 6, 2021 in Opp at Mizell Memorial Hospital from COVID19. He was born February 20, 1984 in Opp, AL, the son of James Louis Pound and Sylvia Jackson Pound.

Jamie graduated from Florala High School, attended LBW, and McArthur Tech in Opp. He was an A.S.E. certified mechanic and worked at Shaw Industries for eleven years.

He was an avid Alabama football fan, car enthusiast, mechanic, motorhead, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed drag racing on the weekends with his dad, video games with his nieces, amusement parks, going to the movies with family and friends, and growing hot peppers to make salsa and pepper jelly with mom. He loved texting and joking around with his friends and family online. He was the king of funniest Facebook memes.

He was a true motorhead with a car collection that included old and new. His favorite was a red 2004 GTO which was chosen to be featured in LS1.com's 2013 calendar.

He was the most genuine person, always with a smile, a joke, or something funny to say. He was always ready to help. A big guy with an even bigger heart. When he loved, he loved with all his heart. Soft spoken with a shy smile and an easy laugh, he was a joy to be around.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James H. and Eloise Pound, and Floyd Jackson.

He is survived by his parents Louis and Sylvia Pound, sister Jennifer Pybus (Jeff), nieces Ima & Callie Pybus and Kalista Howard (Hunter), great niece MacKinlee Howard, grandmother Joyce Jackson, Aunt Joy Collinsworth & family, Aunt Katrina Atkinson & family, & Aunt Jelaine Smith (Joel) & family, special friend, Sara. He is also survived by an abundance of extended loved ones, coworkers, and friends.

Funeral services for James Alexander Pound will be 11AM Thursday September 9, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home with Johnny White officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in North Creek Cemetery.
