J. Nolan
Adams
May 14, 1937 — May 21, 2020
Major U.S. Army Retired J. Nolan Adams May 14, 1937- May 21, 2020
Son of Wiley Frank Adams and Edna Jones Adams, younger brother to Charles Adams. Nolan was born and raised on a 400 acre farm in the furthest north part of Walton county. His father farmed and his mother worked in the sewing factory in Florala. He was a true Walton County native. Graduating high school from Paxton and then graduating from Florida State University. This was a man of many accomplishments. Nolan was a professor at the University of Auburn, served for the U.S. military, traveled the world, taught over seas, lived in Germany and Japan, superintendent of schools while living in Minnesota. Making life long friends throughout this journey who he held dearly in his heart. Always going over and beyond maintaining these friendships far and near. But by far he considered his boys his greatest life accomplishment. His sons and daughter-n-laws are Jamel, Marcus and Sommer, Aaron and Raquel. Nolan was a man of integrity, hard working values, strong but very caring. Not one to sugar coat anything but we loved that about him. After being gone for many years he returned home to the Adams Farm where he taught school and begin to live out his dream of farming like his father. Teaching in the day and farming in the afternoons and weekends. He planted a persimmon orchard and started raising cattle. During this time he met his best friend and companion Barbra Jones who he loved and adored for 25 years. Nolan "retired" in his mid sixties, from teaching that is… Then he began to farm full time, raising his herd to over 200 head of cattle and introducing the panhandle to the fuyu persimmon. In the early 2000s his first of four grandchildren was born. Savannah Lynn followed by Wiley Nolan, Amelia Abella and Aurelia Abella. I will never forget the day he walked in the hospital and saw Marcus holding Savannah Lynn in his arms. Laughing with tears of joy rolling down his face. He was a proud Grandpa! He loved to tell everyone that would listen all about his four grand babies! Although Nolan's body started to fail him when 2020 rolled around he was still bailing hay at 82 just weeks ago. Nolan celebrated 83 last week with loved ones. Our hearts are broken but yet filled with the happiness of his memories and the legacy he leaves behind. Here's to a good run~
Visitation will began at 5PM until 7PM at Evans Funeral Home.
