Glenda Bess, age 79, of Florala, Alabama, passed on Monday, November 24, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1946, to James Carl Ramer and Kathleen Polk Ramer.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her brothers, James Woodrow Ramer and Irvin Ramer; and her sisters, Olida Forehand and Frances Rawls.

Glenda is survived by her loving sons, Alvin Bess (Betsy) and Darryl Bess (Angel); along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Family was the center of Glenda's world. She adored her sons, and she cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being called "Nanny" was one of the greatest delights of her life—a name that warmed her heart and reflected the deep love she poured into her family.

She found peace and beauty in tending her flowers and caring for her yard, especially during the years when she was able to be outside doing what she loved. Her garden was an extension of her gentle spirit.

Above all, Glenda was a godly woman whose faith in Jesus Christ shaped every part of her life. Her values, her steadiness, and the way she lived her faith became a legacy that will continue to guide her family for generations. Her loved ones take comfort in knowing that she is now at rest, healed, and home with her Lord.

A Celebration of Life Service for Glenda Bess will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home with Johnny White officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
