Don Daniel passed away Friday November 8, 2019. He was born March 27, 1940 in Tallahassee, Florida to John Daniel and Carrie Lee Daniel. Don loved serving the Lord, reading and studying the bible. His favorite book was Psalms. Don read the bible through well over 20 times. He enjoyed writing and reading poetry. Don loved all their pets through out the years and was an avid Florida Gator football fan, having grown up in Gainesville, Florida. He enjoyed attending church services and especially singings and men's breakfast meetings. Don and his family made all the all night gospel sings in Bonifay for over 15 years. He faithfully drove a church bus for many years, Sunday mornings, nights and Wednesday nights and any other special church functions. Don worked at the Washington Post in Washington D.C and the Gainesville Sun in Gainesville, Florida, where he started writing poetry. Don left Gainesville, FL and moved to Paxton because a dear friend - Inez McCullough invited him to Clear Springs Baptist Church homecoming to meet Allie Mae Jones and her children. Inez knew that Don and Allie would make a beautiful couple and they did for over 40 years. Don worked locally at the Florala Seed Store, Zorn Brothers, and at Louisiana Pacific (Lockhart Lumber Company) before retiring from Florida Transformer in Defuniak Springs, FL. Don was a "prayer warrior". The blessings he asked of God at family meals, especially at family gatherings during holidays were nothing short of amazing. He truly loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Don was preceded in death by, father, John T. Daniel; mother, Carrie Lee Daniel; sister, Maureen Daniel; brother, Richard Daniel; infant son, Don Daniel Jr: infant daughter, Carrie Lynn Daniel.

Don is survived by the love of his life wife, Allie Mae Lawrence Jones Daniel, daughter, Betty Smith and husband Charles, son, Dewayne Jones and wife Holley, 2 grandchildren, Cody Jones and wife Rachael and Nicholas Jones and wife Megan, 5 great grandchildren, brother, Ray Daniel, sisters, Hilda Russell and husband Tom and Treva Pickett and beloved friend of the family, Dolly McCormick. Don is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews.  Memorial gifts in Don's memory may be made to Ino Baptist Church, 6157 Highway 134, Kinston, Alabama 36453 or Paxton Baptist Church, 21575 U.S. Highway 331, Paxton, Florida 32538.

Funeral services for Don Daniel will be 3PM Monday November 11, 2019 at Evans Funeral Home with Gary Winstead officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Paxton Cemetery.
