Obituary

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Dennis Harrison, loving husband, father and Paw Paw passed away at his home in Florala, Alabama at the age of 64.
He was born January 12, 1955 in Florala to Roy and Vassie (Collinsworth) Harrison. He attended Paxton High School and later join the Alabama Army National Guard. He was married to Loretta (Garvin) Harrison for 45 years. Dennis has one daughter, Joyce Mitchell (Michael), and two grandchildren, Kayla and Ryan.
He was always known for making those around him laugh and for building and repairing anything you could imagine. There also wasn't a musical instrument he couldn't play. From playing good old gospel tunes in church to picking and grinning a country tune under a tree in the front yard there aren't many who haven't heard him play and sing. He was definitely a chef in the kitchen and would cook often for friends and family. Dennis also enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR when he could, especially now that he is retired. Now, with little extra time on his hands, he did his best to help those in need no matter his own current situation. Truth be told, he was a gentle giant known to many as Harry Daddy; a title he earned in the National Guard. He will definitely tell you, though, he is most proud of the title PawPaw.  There was no greater joy in his eyes than when his grandchildren came to visit. He made it his mission to be the best PawPaw he could. Dennis was preceded in death by his father Roy Harrison.

He his survived by his wife Loretta Harrison, daughter and son in law Joyce and Michael Mitchell, grandchildren Kayla and Ryan Mitchell, mother, Vassie Harrison, brother and sister in law Doyle and Melissa Harrison, and sister Debra Robertson.

Funeral services for Dennis Harrison will be 11AM Friday January 18, 2019 from Evans Funeral Home with DeWayne Geohagan officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Paxton cemetery with military honors.
