Daniel J Steele age 68, of DeFuniak Springs passed away April 22, 2022. He was born December 9, 1953 in Avon, New York the son of James Steele and Joan Phillips Steele. Dan worked as a project engineer for the department of transportation for many years. He was an avid gun collector. Dan kept up with "what was going on" and was current in news and politics. He was known for always preferring hugs over handshakes. He didn't meet strangers, he met new best friends. Nothing was more important to Dan as his family. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by father, James Steele; mother, Joan Phillips Steele.

He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Crystal Burns Steele, son, Jacob William Steele, daughter, Holley Madison Steele, brother, Gary Steele, sisters, Sheri Brege and Sue Meyer.

A celebration of life service for Daniel J Steele will be 2PM Sunday May 1, 2022 at Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour before services.
