Curtis Mitchell of Florala, Alabama, was called to his Heavenly home on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the age of 41. He was born in Texas on August 27, 1982, the son of Terry Lynn Mitchell and Rosann Marie Holtz. Curtis was a 2000 graduate of Florala High School. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Douglas MacArthur State Technical College in Opp, Alabama, to become a certified welder. Upon graduation he traveled and worked all over the United States on industrial site shutdowns as a welder. After several years of perfecting his craft, he furthered his education to become a certified welding inspector. After becoming a father, Curtis decided to work closer to home to be near his family. He was employed for many years as a welder at Eglin AFB. In 2021 he decided to go into business for himself and purchased Johnson Septic Tank. He researched, studied, and became certified in septic systems and installations.

In addition to Curtis working hard to provide for his family, he had a love of the outdoors. He was passionate about farming, hunting, and raising cattle. He was a loyal friend to many and known for his integrity, honesty, and sound advice. He possessed an "old soul," a good heart, and a dry sense of humor. He lived his life with steadfast reliance on God's strength and protection.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Terry Mitchell; his grandparents, Curt and Vern Mitchell; his Paw Paw, Jerry Birge; and his Granny (Juanita) Holley.

He is survived by his loving wife Amanda, son Curtis, daughter Lynnley, mother, Rosann Holtz, beloved stepmother Laura Mitchell, devoted stepfather Jerry Norris, grandmother, Ruth Birge, grandfather, Robert Holtz, mother and father-in-law, Patsy and Bruce Stinson, brother-in-law, Zachary and Jessica Stinson, sister-in-law, Ileana Stinson (Matthew Saxon) nieces, nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored him.

Funeral services for Curtis Robert Mitchell will be 4:00 PM Friday September 8, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home, with Randy Holtz and Travis Day officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00, prior to services. Interment will be at North Creek Cemetery.
