Charles Richard "Dick" Evans, 87 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family October 14, 2023. Charles Richard "Dick" Evans was born January 14, 1936 in Florala the son of Hubert Evans and Helen Hicks Evans.  He graduated Auburn University and spent his working career as a CPA in Birmingham where he made his home with his wife Penny for forty-six years.  He was known for his strong spirit, his generosity and loyalty to his family and friends.  His sense of humor brought much joy and laughter to all those around him.  He was proud of his military service and the twelve years that followed as a Major in the reserves.   As a graduate of Covington County High School he never forgot his classmates or his teammates he played Wildcat football with. He was a product of Florala and he came back as often as possible for class reunions and the 24th of June.  He is predeceased by his daughter Alison Evans Mead and his brother Joe Evans.

Among survivors are his wife Penny, his children Charles R. Evans, Jr. and Amy Bergal, his wife's children, Cathy Habek. Susanne Stewart and Brad Habek. His sister Dr. Nancy Stroud and his brother Jerry Evans, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Barbara Stewart Evans.

Graveside services will be held in the Evans Family Plot in Florala Greenwood Cemetery Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
