Catheryn S. Mason, age 91, of Plant City, Florida, passed away October 6, 2026. She was born November 28, 1934, in Florala, Alabama, the daughter of Glennie Sweatt and Annie Mae Turner Sweatt.

Catheryn worked in the textile industry for many years during a time when the work required long hours, physical endurance, and steady determination. Those demanding years helped shape her strength of character, perseverance, and appreciation for an honest day’s work. She was an exceptional worker whose dependability and dedication earned the respect of her coworkers. Well-liked by those who worked alongside her, Catheryn carried that same quiet strength into the other parts of her life.

Catheryn enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and caring for the flowers around her home. She found pleasure in watching things grow and in the beauty that her efforts brought to her surroundings. She also enjoyed reading, finding comfort and enjoyment in the pages of a good book.

Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her as she bravely faced many health challenges. Through difficult days, she held firmly to the hope and strength found in her Savior. She fought the good fight, she kept the faith, and she finished the race.

She was preceded in death by her father, Glennie Sweatt; her mother, Annie Mae Turner Sweatt; and her daughter, Myra Lynn Mason.

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Susan Kimbril (Bobby) and Wanda Stewart; her son, Ray Carlton Stewart Jr (Millie); her sister, Connie Hamilton (R.C.); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services for Catheryn Mason will be 11am Tuesday October 13, 2026 at Paxton Cemetery.
