Obituary

Carol D. Thornton, affectionately known as Granny Carol to her beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was a woman of deep faith, quiet strength and enduring love - the kind of person whose presence made others feel at home. Carol was a devoted mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, and her role as Granny Carol was one that she cherished above all. Her children and grandchildren were her heart, and she filled their lives with stories and unconditional love. As a dedicated public servant, Carol worked for many years for Walton County Board of County Commissioner's and the Walton County Tax Collector's Office, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness and commitment to helping others. She retired after a long and faithful career to Walton county. Carol's faith was the foundation of her life. She carried herself with grace, compassion and humility and she lived each day guided by her spiritual values. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Jessie Belle Davis; grandson, Ricky Snow; brother, James T. Davis; sisters, Margaret Davis Landingham and Elizabeth Davis.

She is survived by her son, John David Pool, daughters, Lori Michele Jopling (Bruce), Kristie Campbell (Scott) and Misty Ferrell (Michael), brother, Lamar Davis (Cindy) and Manuel Davis (Glenda), grandchildren, Nikki Snow Tyner (Josh), Scott Snow, Christopher Pool, Jessica Pool Frazier (John), McKenna Ferrell, Mallory Ferrell, McCade Ferrell and Madeline Ferrell, numerous great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, all whom she loved very much. Also among the many blessings in her life were her dearest friends, Kisha Hulion, Patricia Price, Flora Dean Yates and Rhonda Skipper - who were more like sisters. Their friendship brought her great joy and comfort throughout the years.
