Brenda Patterson
Kelley
Jan 15, 1960 — Sep 5, 2026
Brenda Patterson Kelley, of Clanton, Alabama, passed away on September 5, 2026. She was born on January 15, 1960, in Florala, Alabama, the daughter of James Patterson and Betty Smith Patterson.
Brenda was a hardworking and gifted businesswoman who, alongside her husband, Pat, owned and operated Bren Wils Indoor Flea Market, a thriving 50,000-square-foot marketplace. Brenda truly loved her work. She enjoyed meeting people, greeting customers, and making everyone feel welcome.
She possessed a remarkable eye for value and could recognize a good bargain almost instantly. Brenda understood what people wanted, what an item was worth, and what would appeal to the community. Her sound judgment, natural business sense, and knowledge of merchandise helped make Bren Wils a successful and well-loved destination. More than the buying and selling, however, Brenda treasured the conversations, friendships, and relationships she developed with her customers through the years.
When Brenda stepped away from her busy life, she loved traveling to the mountains of North Carolina. Cherokee and Maggie Valley held a special place in her heart and brought her great happiness. She also enjoyed fishing, as long as the fish were biting. Brenda preferred the baited ponds where she did not have to wait long for the cork to disappear and a fish to find its way onto her line.
Brenda was a devoted Auburn football fan and took great pleasure in keeping Pat "in line." As she would jokingly explain, she was never fussing at him, she was simply helping him stay on the right path. Pat understood that Brenda's loving supervision came with the territory, and their playful exchanges became part of the warmth, laughter, and companionship they shared.
Above all, Brenda was sustained by her faith in Jesus Christ. During nearly a year of illness, she faced each day with courage and determination. Brenda fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Her earthly struggle has ended, and she now rests in the presence of the Savior in whom she placed her trust.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, James Patterson and Betty Smith Patterson, and her son, Alex Kelley.
She is survived by her loving husband, Pat Kelley; her son, Shawn Perkins; her grandchildren, Billy Ann, Tank, and Josh; and many other relatives, friends, customers, and members of the community whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Funeral services for Brenda Patterson Kelley will be held Wednesday September 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
