Billy Eugene Helms, age 87, passed away August 12, 2021 in a Opp hospital from COVID. He was born February 3, 1934 in Coffee County to Eugene Helms and Lucille Kilpatrick Helms.

Billy worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for 43 years and retired in 2008. After retirement he resided in Lockhart, Alabama with son, Billy Edward Helms and Dawn. He enjoyed gardening, going to the Senior Dances, Nascar, and being with family. He was a member of the Lockhart Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by father, Eugene Helms and mother, Lucille Kilpatrick Helms, brothers, Wayne Helms, David Helms, and wife, Joann Helms, sister, Leon Helms, sister-in-law, Judy Helms and grandsons, Patrick Helms and Joshua Martin.

He is survived by companion, Joyce Eller, son, Billy Edward Helms (Dawn) of Lockhart, AL, daughters, Karen Kimbro (Dewayne), Melissa Holley (Mike), of Florala, AL, brother, Ovie Helms, of Wetumpka, AL, sister-in-law, Diane Helms of Wetumpka, grandchildren Joann Hadley (Jamie), and Jessica Jackson (Jamie), great grandchildren, Joshua Grissett, Kadence and Dalton Jackson. sister-in-law, Diane Helms, He is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Billy Eugene Helms will be 2PM Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Evans Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
