Billy Wayne Goolsby passed from this earthly place on February 6, 2024 at his home near Samson Alabama. Billy was born to Walter and Lottie Goolsby at Dr. Holly's Hospital in Florala, Alabama on July 19, 1954 as their last child. He graduated from Florala High School in 1973 and moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida where he began work with Cox Cable as a cable installer technician. He continued his education at the Okaloosa Walton Junior College over the years. After many years with Cox Cable, in several work areas, he had a job injury that caused an early retirement. He moved back to Florala and then later to his last home on Doyle Morgan Road near Finks Mill (an historic local grist mill) near Samson, Alabama. Here he lived out the rest of his earthly life.

Billy was a caring man and was always there to help someone in need. He loved watching sports especially college football. He also loved fishing and would try to go often as possible until his health prevented it. Being outside, relaxing and being with friends and family was important to him when he was well. He enjoyed a good conversation and could easily talk to a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Alton W. Goolsby, George H. Goolsby, and Charles F. Goolsby. He is survived by his sister, Ramona Goolsby Weeks and his brother, John M. Goolsby and wife Debra, and many nieces and nephews. A special appreciation to Joanne Carpenter and Ike Belcher for the many hours of assistance that they provided to him in his later years.

Funeral services will be held at Evans Funeral Home in Florala, Alabama on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asked if you are so moved, please make donations to the Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery fund in care of Janet Twitty 8484 T E Rogers Road, Laurel Hill Fl 32567.
