Barbara Ann Neeley age 78, of Kinston passed away January 21, 2024. She was born in Hacoda, Alabama the daughter of Allen Gilmore and Myrtis Sansom Gilmore. Barbara Ann worked in the textile industry until ill health forced her retirement. She enjoyed cooking for her family especially Sunday dinners, where she was famously known for her pecan pies, dressing and her sweet tea. Barbara Ann was an avid Alabama football fan. She was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church. Barbara Ann's faith in Jesus Christ sustained her as she bravely fought many health issues. She fought the good fight. She kept the faith. She finished the race. She was preceded in death by son, Douglas Allen Vandegrift; granddaughter, Taya Vandegrift, father, Allen Gilmore; mother, Myrtis Samson Gilmore; sisters, Odessa Stanton and Dorthy Sullivan.

She is survived by daughter, Christina Caldwell (Winston), son, David Vandergrift, sister, Evelyn Marshall (Robert), brothers, Rayford Gilmore (Gwen) and Clerence Gilmore. She is also survived by grandchildren Raygen Caldwell (Austin), Billy Slade Vandegrift (Ashley), Dakon Vandegrift Brianne), Haley Vandegrift (Corwin) and Tyler Vandegrift (Caitlyn), great grandson, Matthew Vandegrift.

Funeral services for Barbara Ann Neeley will be 12PM Tuesday January 23, 2024 at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church with Joe Farris officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Weeks Chaple Cemetery.
