Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Childs, age 68, of Laurel Hill, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. Born November 5, 1957, in Fort Walton Beach, he was the son of Enos Childs and Guyndel Paul Childs.

Tony worked as a carpenter for most of his life. He was known as a skilled craftsman who believed in hard work and took pride in doing a job the right way. His fellow workers respected him not only for his knowledge and ability, but also for his steady work ethic and dependable nature.

Outside of work, Tony enjoyed fishing and living the simple things of life. He never met a stranger and was friendly to everyone he encountered. He lived a humble, uncomplicated life, the kind many would simply describe as a "good old Southern boy." Those who knew him will remember his easygoing spirit, his kindness, and his appreciation for the people around him.

The family finds peace and comfort in knowing that Tony is now at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Tony shared a special bond with his sister, Pat, Lily Patrice Andress, who lovingly cared for him through many seasons of life. Her devotion, compassion, and faithfulness meant more to Tony than words could ever express. She made certain his needs were always met and stood beside him with unwavering love and care. The family will forever be grateful for the tenderness and selflessness she showed to her brother.

He is survived by his mother, Guyndel Paul Childs; his brother, Timothy Childs; his sisters, Margie Dale Stevens, Lily Patrice "Pat" Andress, and Michelle Jean Meadows (Paul); along with numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

A celebration of life service for Anthony "Tony" Childs will be 11AM Thursday May 21, 2026 at Evans Funeral with John Bryan officiating.
