Obituary

Allie Mae Daniel passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born June 1, 1939 in Florala to Steve and Eula Wheat Lawrence. Allie Mae loved serving the Lord, loving her family, reading her Bible and taking care of her children, whether at church or home. She was what you call a blessed mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Everyone knew her as a Godly woman. She was a prayer warrior for her family or anyone in need. Her gentle spirit came through in the love she showed to her family, her church and even her animals, from parakeets, dogs, cats, guineas, chickens, rabbits and even wild pigs.

Mom loved the poems written by her loving husband, Don, over the years. She enjoyed attending church on every occasion... If the doors were open she and Don were there. If there was a gospel singing or revival they were there. She loved her gardening, canning of vegetables, pear and fig preserves, She enjoyed cooking for her family everyday - breakfast, lunch and dinner-full meals! Fried chicken, biscuits or cornbread, mashed potatoes and gravy, always peas or butter beans from her garden and her specialty-home pear tarts that were the size of a plate. Something most people didn't know is that she loved being a prankster to her kids. Allie Mae was preceded in death by husband, Don Daniel; father, Steve Lawrence; mother, Eula Wheat Lawrence; brother, Carlos Lawrence; infant son, Don Daniel Jr; infant daughter, Carrie Lynn Daniel. Allie had 4 half brothers, Luther (Dick), Jimmy, Randel and Albert Lawrence and 3 half sisters, Maggie, Emma and Deal Lawrence.

Allie Mae is survived by daughter, Betty Smith and husband Charles, son, Dewayne Jones and wife Holley, grandchildren, Cody Jones and wife Rachael and Nicholas Jones and wife Megan, 5 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Treva Daniel and brother-in-law, Ray Daniel and 2 very special friends, Dolly McCormick and Esther Hughes. She is also survived by an abundance of extended love ones including numerous nieces and nephews.  Allie Mae's family offers their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Vishwanath, Dr. Thigpen, Emerald Coast Hospice and Walton County Ambulance Service for the wonderful and loving care they gave Allie Mae.
