Gladys Nonnweiler

Gladys Grunow Nonnweiler, age 88 of 143 Faith Avenue in the Christan Life Center near Florala was promoted to glory on December 11, 2012. She was the daughter of Richard and Amanda Grunow. In 1942 she married her soul mate and high school sweetheart Norman Nonnweiler. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and adored every moment she spent with her family. Gladys was dedicated community leader. She spent countless hours volunteering her time to adult rehab centers and church activites such as playing the piano, organ, accordion and singing trios with her sisters, Helen Grunow and Viola Wagner. Gladys served in the Salavation Army for almost 40 years as an officer. She loved to travel. Gladys and Norman spent a lot of time traveling to Europe and around the United States. Gladys was a member of the Bible Methodist Church at the Christan Life Center near Florala. Gladys was preceded in death by father, Richard Grunow; mother, Amanda Grunow and son, Donald Nonnweiler. Gladys is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Norman Nonnweiler, two sons, Norman Nonnweiler and wife Marge of Rockford, IL, Rob Nonnweiler of Tampa, FL, one daughter, Helen Mihelnik and husband Bob of Sheboygan, WI, one daughter-in-law, Kathy Nonnweiler of DeFuniak Springs, FL, two sisters, Helen Grunow and Viola Wagner of DeFuniak Springs, FL, one brother, Don Grunow of Sheboygan, WI and 6 grandchildren, Norman, Richard, Amanda, David, Jessie and Michelle. Funeral services for Gladys Nonnweiler will be 11AM Thursday December 13, 2012 at the Bible Methodist Church at the Christian Life Village near Florala with Joseph Christian officiating. Visitation will be 10AM Thursday until funeral time at 11 AM. Burial will follow at the Natural Bridge Cemetery. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.evansfuneralhomeal.com
